The main tasks of the Department are:

1. Executing State control over:

- observance by public authorities and local governments, the state budget funds, as well as medical and pharmaceutical organizations and individual entrepreneurs of the rights of citizens in the sphere of health protection;

- observance by medical organizations and individual entrepreneurs, executing medical services, of the order of medical assistance and medical care standards;

- observance by medical organizations and individual entrepreneurs, executing medical services, of orders for medical expertise, medical examinations and medical inspections;

- observance by medical staff, the heads of medical institutions, pharmaceutical workers and heads of pharmaceutical organizations of restrictions applicable to specified persons in the exercise of their professional activities;

- reliability of primary statistical data submitted by the medical organizations and individual entrepreneurs engaged in medical activities.

2. Organization and implementation of:

- departmental control of quality and safety of medical activities in subordinate bodies and organizations by Federal Executive authorities and Executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation;

- internal control of quality and safety of medical services by Federal Executive authorities, Executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local authorities exercising powers in the sphere of health protection, medical organizations and individual entrepreneurs executing medical services.

3. Admission of persons who have received medical and pharmaceutical training in foreign countries, to the medical and pharmaceutical professional work in the Russian Federation.
